Solid Waste Code Compliance Program
The PDEQ Code Compliance Program includes the Illegal Dumping Program which pertains to the unlawful accumulation or storage of solid waste in a manner that is a hazard to public health, public safety, or the environment, as determined by PDEQ.
To report unlawful accumulation or storage of Solid Waste to PDEQ, you can do so online or by calling (520) 724-7400 Monday through Friday, 8am to 5pm.
Solid Waste complaints on properties within the Tucson city limits should be reported to the Housing and Community Development Code Enforcement Section at the City of Tucson.
The open storage of excessive material that cannot be considered “Solid Waste” i.e. the material is still useable or does not meet the definition of Solid Waste, is also enforced by the PDEQ Code Compliance Program for the Pima County Development Services Department (PCDSD). Open storage complaints may now be reported to PDEQ or PCDSD at Pima County Development Services Zoning Enforcement for investigation by the PDEQ Code Compliance Program.
It is unlawful to dump, deposit or dispose of solid waste any place within the county other than at an approved site. PDEQ also offers guidance for proper Disposal of Other Solid Waste including Mobile Homes, Manure, Animal Feces, etc.
