Green Valley Drainageway 6 Improvements

Overview

Location mapThe Green Valley Drainage Way 6 Improvements are part of the Pima County Regional Flood Control District’s continuing overall maintenance and drainage improvements for Green Valley.   The project location is in Drainage Way 6 east of Abrego Road and west of the confluences with the Santa Cruz River.  Drainage Way 6 is located between E. El Valle and E. Paseo Chuparosa, as shown in the map at right. 

The purpose of the project was to repair and improve Drainage Way 6 which was scoured out and had begun to destabilize its channel banks.  The scope of this project includes the repair of the existing bank protection and rock mattress, the addition of 5 new grade control structures (each with associate rock mattresses upstream and downstream of the grade control structure) and two new maintenance ramps. 

The project was constructed by the Regional Flood Control District in the Fall of 2011.  The construction cost of the project was approximately  $230,000.

A public meeting was held April 12, 2011 at the Desert Hills Social Center at 10 AM.
