    MISSION:  To hear administrative appeals of proposed property tax assessments by County Assessors in large counties in the State of Arizona.  The State Board of Equalization terminates on July 1, 2024, pursuant to A.R.S. §41-3024.13.

    AUTHORIZATION: A.R.S. §42-16151, et al.

    MEMBERSHIP INFORMATION:  The State Board of Equalization consists of:

    • 10 members who are appointed by the Board of Supervisors from each county with a population of more than five hundred thousand persons;
    • 10 members who are appointed by the governor from each county with a population of more than five hundred thousand persons;
    • 1 member who is appointed by the governor, who is designated as chairman.

    APPOINTMENT TERM: Members appointed by the Board of Supervisors serve at the pleasure of the County Board for terms that expire at the same time as the elective term of the County Supervisors.  Members appointed by the governor serve a term of 5 years.  Members may be reappointed.
