The American Planning Association (APA) presented the Pima County DOT GIS Division with its 2002 Outstanding Planning Award for a Plan for its entry Sonoran Desert Conservation Plan.
The award was accepted by John Regan, GIS Manager, at APA’s national conference in Chicago.
APA brings together planning commissioners and planners working at every level of government, in universities, in consultancies ranging from one-person firms to multinational corporations, and in a myriad of specialties.
The American Planning Association annual awards honor the most outstanding efforts in the art, science, and profession of city and regional planning. "Across America, people are demanding clean air and water, broader choices in housing and transportation, and a louder voice in the future of their communities," said APA Executive Director Paul Farmer, AICP. "These awards are evidence of how good planning is meeting these demands."
