In November 2004, the Pima County Housing Commission made recommendations to the Board of Supervisors for funding from the Affordable Housing Bond authorized by voters to increase the amount of affordable housing for low and moderate-income families and to oversee and assure the public’s accountability of bond funds. This 11-member commission represented board appointees and one appointee from the County Administrator. During their tenure, the commission provided recommendations and had a role in the development of 623 units, assisted 313 homeowners, and subsidized 310 rent or lease properties throughout Pima County. February 2020 was the last time the commission met.
Due to the health pandemic of 2020, the county empaneled an Affordable Housing Taskforce to review and make recommendations for continued action regarding the continuum of housing and affordability. The recommendation made by the taskforce included a recommended to shift the focus of housing affordability and expand the commission to include other jurisdictions within Pima County.
Meeting agendas and minutes from the commission are available at the Community & Workforce Development department’s administration building.
