Pima County seeks community feedback on parks & rec fees

Read More NewsThe Pima County Natural Resources, Parks and Recreation Department (NRPR) wants to hear from the community about proposed changes to its existing fees. A public meeting is scheduled for Thursday, Sept. 1, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Abrams Public Health Center, 3950 S. Country Club Rd.
The proposed fee adjustments would impact facility rentals, including fields, ramadas and campgrounds; admission to facilities, such as shooting ranges and swimming pools; program enrollments including after-school programs; special event permits; beer and wine permits; swim team; pool rentals; horse arena rentals; and other class registrations. The proposed fees are consistent with other local jurisdictions. NRPR Director Vic Pereira says this fee increase is commensurate in cost and in most cases well below other Arizona counties’ and cities’ current rates.
“This nominal fee increase will allow NRPR the ability to reinvest in our fields and facilities to continue to provide exemplary sports fields, facilities and services to all our constituents.”
NRPR last raised its fees in 2018.
The public can review the proposed fee schedule online in County Administrator Jan Lesher’s Feb. 3 memorandum to the Pima County Board of Supervisors.
After the public meeting, the NRPR Advisory Commission will make a recommendation to the Board of Supervisors. The Board of Supervisors will then consider the proposed fee schedule at a later date.
