ECE job fairPima County’s Department of Community & Workforce Development will host a job fair May 12 from 2 to 5 p.m. for anyone interested in working in early childhood education.

The job fair at the Kino Event Center, 2805 E. Ajo Way, will feature 20 to 40 companies or nonprofit agencies in Pima County that are seeking candidates for more than 100 vacant positions.

Community & Workforce Development is partnering with the Pima Early Education Program (PEEPs), Child & Family Resources and the United Way of Tucson and Southern Arizona for the job fair.

“One of the biggest challenges in early childhood programs right now is workforce shortages. There is a huge staffing shortage for early childhood educators across our nation and we are definitely seeing that in Pima County,” said Nicole Scott, program manager for the Pima Early Education Program.

“We have brought together early childhood education providers who are in desperate need of teachers, assistant teachers and staff in general where they can reach potential candidates.”

The positions for which candidates are being sought include preschool teachers, assistant teachers, assistant directors, early childhood educators, cooks, van drivers and summer extended-care educators.

Job-seekers are encouraged to dress professionally and to bring plenty of resumes.

“There may be opportunities for on-the-spot interviews and hiring at this event,” Scott said. “The intention is to connect job-seekers with employers in order to help combat the shortage of early childhood education workers.”
