  • City of Tucson economic development the focus of Jan. 10 Workforce Investment Board meeting

    The City of Tucson’s economic development and workforce initiatives will be the focus of the Pima County Workforce Investment Board meeting on Friday, Jan. 10.

    Chris Kaselemis, the Program Director of Economic Initiatives for the City of Tucson, and Camila Bekat, an Economic Development Specialist with the City, will be making a presentation at the meeting.

    Kaselemis has worked for the City for over 25 years in various positions and is a certified planner. He has an MBA from the University of Arizona.

    Bekat works on downtown revitalization and business attraction. She has a master's degree from the University of Denver in Global Finance, Trade and Economic Integration.

    The meeting will begin at 7:30 a.m. in Rooms 109-112 at Pima Community College’s Community Campus, 401 N. Bonita Ave. It usually concludes by 9 a.m. and is open to the public.

    The Pima County Workforce Investment Board is appointed by the Pima County Board of Supervisors to provide recommendations on local workforce policy and oversight of the Pima County One-Stop Career Center. The board includes representatives of local businesses, nonprofits and educational institutions.

    One-Stop works with employers in local growth, high-demand industry occupations to address their current and future workforce needs.
