Beginning at 4 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 9, to 4 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 12, 2013, the Pima County Department of Transportation, Regional Transportation Authority and contractor Markham Construction will be closing the intersection of La Cholla Boulevard and Overton Road as part of the La Cholla Boulevard: Magee Road to Overton Road improvement project.

During the closure, crews will be removing the existing asphalt, preparing the subgrade for paving, and paving the first lift of pavement at the intersection.

Work will take place each day from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. The intersection will reopen Tuesday at 4 a.m. to full traffic.

The medians at the intersection will be installed at a later date and final rubberized asphalt will be placed in the spring (weather appropriate).

Message boards are placed in advance to inform the traveling public of the closure.

La Cañada Drive may be used as the north/south alternate route and Magee Road for the east/west alternate.

In the event of mechanical failure or inclement weather, the construction schedule is subject to change. For more information, visit the project website at http://www.roadprojects.pima.gov/LaChollanorth/.
