Over the years, Pima County has made efforts to help neutralize the rising cost of health care. In 2013, the County became self-insured and has since transitioned to a fully consumer-driven medical plan. Many members now treat medical services, prescriptions and other items they purchase with planning, research, and cost comparisons.  As a result of the positive impact on costs, the Board of Supervisors unanimously approved the FY 2018/19 employee benefits medical and pharmacy with reduced premiums.

Below are some of the highlights for FY 2018/19 employee benefits:

Medical Third Party Administrator (TPA): Aetna

Pharmacy Benefit Manager (PBM): CVS Health

    Employee Assistance Program (EAP): Aetna

    Medical & Pharmacy

Overall medical rates have either remained the same or have been lowered by 5.68 percent.
