  • Bopp Road: Sarasota Boulevard at Kinney Road Improvement Project

    Bopp Rd mapProject Cost: 4,976,000
Project Status: Design / Construction Contract Awarded
    Completion Date: Design - Spring 2018, Construction - Spring 2020 - Early Spring 2021
Engineer/Contractor:  AECOM Technical Services, Inc./Southern Arizona Paving

This project reconstructs Bopp Rd. to align with Sarasota Blvd. to create a four-legged intersection with Kinney Rd. The new intersection will include one through lane and one left-turn lane on all approaches. The Kinney Rd. northbound left-turn onto Bopp Rd. (westbound) will be designed to accommodate dual left-turn lanes for future use. Right-turn lanes will be included for the Kinney Rd. northbound right-turn onto Sarasota Blvd. (eastbound) and the Bopp Rd. (eastbound) right-turn onto Kinney Rd. (southbound). A new traffic signal, intersection lighting and ADA Accessible curb ramps will be installed.

The roadway improvements on Bopp Rd., Kinney Rd., and Sarasota Blvd will include an 11-foot wide travel lane and six-foot wide paved shoulders in each direction. Other improvements include left-turn lanes at Prism Sky Dr., cross drainage structures, curbed and depressed medians, driveway improvements, native re-vegetation landscaping and irrigation, signing and pavement marking. The existing Bopp Rd. alignment will include a cul-de-sac at the west end near the new Bopp Rd. alignment to maintain access for local traffic only.
