Beginning on Tuesday, June 20, through Monday, July 3, Pima County Regional Flood Control District and their contractor, Hunter Contracting Co., will be hauling material across El Camino del Cerro over the Santa Cruz River to I-10 Frontage Road as part of the improvement project.

Road repairHauling activities will be flagged across El Camino del Cerro over the Santa Cruz River to the Frontage Road. Travelers will see flaggers in the area and may experience some delays. Hours of operation will be from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. over the next two weeks.

The work will consist of excavating approximately 1,900 linear feet of the drainage channel connecting the I-10 Frontage Road drainage channel to the Santa Cruz River, partially removing the existing soil cement, improving the concrete bank protection, notching concrete weir structure through the soil cement and the installation of three 60’ reinforced concrete pipes through the soil cement.

Due to the location of the work, The Loop south of El Camino del Cerro to the Wastewater Facility on the east bank will be closed. The Loop users who are coming from the south will need to switch to the west bank at Grant Road. Alternatively, The Loop users who are coming from the north will need to switch to the west bank at El Camino del Cerro. For questions, please visit The Loop website.

Please approach the area with caution and obey all traffic control devices. Bicyclists and pedestrians may wish to seek alternate routes.

In the event of mechanical failure or inclement weather, the construction schedule will be subject to change.
