  • DOT announces several road improvement projects for June

    The Pima County Department of Transportation has several road projects in the works through the month of June. All projects begin June 12.

    roadworkPavement Preservation on Camino Verde from Nebraska Street to Valencia Road

    DOT and its contractor, Granite Construction, will construct shoulders and overlay on Camino Verde from Nebraska Street to Valencia Road between the hours of 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. through June 26. The following is the anticipated work schedule:
    June 12–21: The contractor will remove striping, lower utilities and perform other preliminary work.
    June 22– June 26: The contractor will compact the shoulders, and mill and pave the roadway.

    Motorists can expect lane restrictions and reduced speed. Sheriff’s deputies and pilot cars will assist with the traffic through the work zone. Minor delays may occur during this work. In the event of mechanical failure or inclement weather, the construction schedule is subject to change.

    Pavement Preservation on Ironwood Hill Drive from Shannon Road to Camino de Oeste

    DOT will also work with Granite Construction to start milling and paving Ironwood Hill Drive from Shannon Road to Camino De Oeste between the hours of 6 a.m. and 6 p.m. through June 23.

    The following is the anticipated work schedule:
    June 12–16: The contractor will remove striping, lower utilities and perform other preliminary work.
    June 19–June 23: The contractor will mill, pave and restripe the road.

    Motorists can expect lane restrictions and reduced speed. Sheriffs, flaggers and a pilot car will assist through the work zone. Please approach the area with caution and obey all traffic control devices. Minor delays may occur during this work.In the event of mechanical failure or inclement weather, the construction schedule is subject to change.

    Shoulder work on River Road between Pontatoc Road and Swan Road

    Through June16, DOT crews will perform grading and shoulder repair work between the hours of 9 a.m. and 3 p.m.

    Motorists can expect lane restrictions and reduced speed. Flaggers will assist through the work zone. Please approach the area with caution and obey all traffic control devices. Minor delays may occur during this work. In the event of mechanical failure or inclement weather, the construction schedule is subject to change.
