Administrative Review Submittal Requirements

Note: Bolded items are required for Administrative Completeness determination when applicable to project.
  • Alert!! Depending on project scope, your application may require prior approval of separate external department processes from Regional Flood Control District (RFCD), Regional   Wastewater Reclamation Department (RWRD), Pima County Department of Environmental Quality (PDEQ) or Department of Transportation (DOT).
  • PDF file of construction drawings.
  • Construction Documents clearly indicating the location, nature and extent of proposed work.
  • PDF file of sealed structural calculations.

Cover Sheet

  • Provide plan index, code edition, job title, job address, and surface area of pool and/or spa.

Site Plan (Drawn to scale)

  • Setbacks from the property lines to the pool and existing construction.
  • Indicate the location of the pool and/or spa equipment, septic system, grading limits, etc.

Pool Barrier (Fence or Wall)

  • Indicate type of barrier in accordance with IRC for residential or Arizona Administrative Code, Title 18, Chapter 5, Article 2 for Public and Semi-Public.

Retaining Walls

  • All walls that support or are within a 3 to 1 slope of the pool must be identified.

Structures

  • No portion of a pool structure shall be located within a 45 degree angle of the bottom of the footing of any structure.

Equipment

  • Specify heater type (gas or electric).
  • Pool equipment must be a minimum of 4 feet from a required barrier or enclosure.
  • Specify type and size of plumbing pipe used (i.e. 2 foot PVC Schedule 40).
  • Provide manufacturer information (specification sheet) for pumps, filters and heaters.

Electrical Plan

  • Provide the size (amperage) of the existing service.
  • Provide the circuit size needed to power the pool and/or spa.
  • Provide the panel schedule and the new circuits to be used (if the panel is too small to support the new loads, an electrical upgrade permit shall be required).
  • Indicate equipotential bonding grid.

Plumbing Plan

  • Indicate location all water supply lines

Pool and Spa Heaters (Gas)

  • Provide the heater BTU (British Thermal Unit) energy demands and the developed length and location of the gas line.
  • Provide the size and the type of material to be used for the gas pipe.
  • Indicate the gas meter location.

Pool and Spa Heaters (Electric)

  • Provide the electric heater circuit load.
  • Include the location of the disconnect unit and the general purpose Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter (GFCI) outlet.
