    Building Permit Application Process

For commercial site development permitting, please see the corresponding process for your type of project listed under the "Commercial Development and Plats" tab.

    Preparation

    • Required Documents:  Please view and follow submittal criteria for your type of project.  Look under our "residential projects, "commercial projects" and other criteria headings within our Building Permit Resources page.
    • Prepare documentation.
    • Convert all documents to PDF files and name consolidated files per posted criteria (if sending secured files, select the following Adobe security option: "Any except extracting pages" which allows us to place an approval watermark)

    Submittal

    • Complete the on-line application form, attach pdf files and submit
    • For project files that exceed a total of 8 MB: upload the documents to an FTP site or file sharing site like Dropbox or FileZilla, copy the shareable link and paste it in the on-line application form
    • Projects files may be delivered to our offices on thumb drive or disc
    • Projects of maximum 5 sheet of papers may be accepted at our office for scanning (greater than 5 sheets will need to be scanned by client and provided electronically)

    Process

    • Upon receipt of an application, Development Services shall generate an activity number, route the project for internal review, and applicant shall receive an emailed notification
    • If application is incomplete or if corrections are required, applicant shall receive an emailed notification
    • Projects shall be processed within posted time frames.
    • Approved projects shall contain an approval watermark burnt into PDF documents
    • Upon approval of projects, clients shall receive an auto-email with an attached invoice which may be paid online, in person at our office, or by emailing an APA account number with project activity number to BuildingSafetyAdmin@pima.gov
    • Upon payment of invoice, clients shall receive an auto-email with permit attached.  Within two hours of this email, staff shall email approved plans (should file size be too large to email, client shall receive an emailed link to the County’s FTP site for download)
