Excellence in ProcurementIn 2019, the National Purchasing Institute honored Pima County’s Procurement Department with the "Achievement of Excellence in Procurement" award for the 15th consecutive year. This prestigious award recognizes organizational excellence in public procurement and is awarded to those organizations that meet criteria designed to measure innovation, professionalism, e-procurement, productivity and leadership. Pima County is one of only 42 Counties in the United States and Canada to receive this prestigious award.

In 2017, Pima County was awarded the NIGP Outstanding Agency Accreditation Achievement Award (OA4) by NIGP: The Institute for Public Procurement. The OA4 recognizes agencies that lead the public procurement profession through the implementation of best practices. Agencies that earn this designation are OA4-accredited for three years.
It is the fifth consecutive time the department has received the award since 2005. While NIGP represents over 3,000 governmental agencies across the United States and Canada, Pima County Procurement is one of just 144 agencies ever to have attained that distinction and one of only 5 agencies statewide to hold an active accreditation.
