Messages and What They Mean

The following messages are examples of what you can expect to receive when the District observes flow at the stream gage for this area. Actual messages may vary slightly depending on conditions. For each example message we provide the stream gage discharge at which the message is expected to be sent and an explanation of the purpose of the message and actions you should take when you receive that message.

Flooding on Sabino Creek expected out of banks. Flooded homes possible. Be prepared to evacuate or shelter in place. If emergency responders are present, follow their instructions. This may be the only notification you receive. If you are experiencing flooding and feel like you are in danger call 911. Flood water on Sabino Creek at Sabino Dam is rising. Isolated home flooding possible, with numbers and likelihood increasing if waters continue to rise. Low-lying residents should gather valuables and emergency preparedness supplies and prepare to evacuate and/or shelter in place.
11,000 cfs Severe flooding is expected along Sabino Creek. Be prepared to evacuate or shelter in place. If emergency responders are present, follow their instructions. If you are experiencing flooding and feel like you are in danger call 911. Flood water on Sabino Creek at Sabino Dam continues to rise. Isolated home flooding likely.
14,000 cfs Sabino Creek flooding at near-historic levels. Severe flooding is expected along Sabino Creek. Be prepared to evacuate or shelter in place. If emergency responders are present, follow their instructions. If you are experiencing flooding and feel like you are in danger call 911. Flooded homes are expected. Exercise extreme caution if you choose to evacuate.
