APWA AZ logoThe Arizona Chapter and Southern Arizona Branch of the American Public Works Association (APWA) is pleased to announce the RWRD Conveyance Division, as the recipient of six awards – one in the individual category, and five for specific projects. APWA is a non-profit educational and professional association of public agencies, private sector companies, and individuals dedicated to providing professional excellence and public awareness through education, advocacy, and knowledge.

Deputy Director of the Conveyance Division, Jaime Rivera, was selected as the APWA Southern Arizona Branch Outstanding Public Works Employee of the Year. Throughout his career, he has managed and implemented multi-million dollar and award-winning rehabilitation, repair, and construction projects resulting in improved completion times, project execution, and budget control.

The Broadway Boulevard Sewer Augmentation Project received an award in the Environmental Category for projects less than $5 million. Civil Engineer Mario Robles was the RWRD project manager on this project, KE&G Construction, Inc. was the contractor, and the Michael Baker Team was the consultant. This project required the team to work in a compact site through a neighborhood with very deep pipe installation. Despite the constraints, the team was able to complete the project without any issues or delays.

The North Rillito Interceptor Project received an award in the Environmental Category for projects between $5 and $25 million at both the state and local chapter. Civil Engineering Manager Noel Ortiz was the project manager on this project, B&F Contracting, Inc. was the contractor, and Brown and Caldwell was the consultant. This particular project involved over 10 miles of sewer rehabilitation and affected various neighborhoods and constituents.

The Job Order Master Agreement Project received an award in the Environmental Category for projects more than $75 million at both the state and local chapter. The team, led by Unclassified Program Coordinator David Badger, works closely with contractors to address emergencies and rehabilitate sewer infrastructure. Over the past five years, the team has delivered 804 individual job orders totaling more than $88 million.

The Conveyance Division continues to demonstrate a high level of excellence in each project it carries out, as well as in the manner in which it collaborates with stakeholders and partners. Congratulations to the recipients!
