PACC dogPima Animal Care Center is asking the community to give a deserving dog or puppy a home just in time for the holidays. To help place pets into loving homes, PACC officials invite the public to name their own adoption fee through Sunday, Dec. 24 as part of its ‘Home for the Holidays’ special.

As of Tuesday morning, PACC had more than 350 dogs in its care, ranging from puppies to seniors, small dogs, big dogs, and dogs with active to laid back personalities.

“Our kennels are bursting with dogs and puppies waiting patiently for new families,” PACC Director Kristen Auerbach said. “The holidays can be a great time to add a new pet because many people have time at home to help socialize their new family member.”

Community members interested in adopting should visit PACC’s new shelter during business hours, noon to 7 p.m. on weekdays, and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday or 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday. Adopted pets will come spayed or neutered, with age-appropriate vaccinations, a microchip and a free vet visit, too. In addition to the adoption fee, a separate $18 licensing fee will apply to adult dogs.

To see available pets, visit PACC’s shelter, 4000 N. Silverbell Rd., or PACC’s website. While the ‘Home for the Holidays’ adoption special only applies to dogs and puppies, PACC has plenty of cats who would also like a new home for the holidays. Their adoption fees range from $0 to $50.

For more information on adopting a PACC pet, call PACC's Pet Support Center at (520) 724-7222 or visit PACC’s adoption webpage.

Not ready to adopt, but still want to help? Consider fostering a pet instead. PACC could really use the help with foster placements through the holidays, particularly for its medium to large dogs, which currently account for more than half of its dog population. Learn more here.
