Proposed Changes to Floodplain Boundaries for the Flowing Wells Wash and Runway Drive Area Through the Federal Emergency Management Agency as Part of the National Flood Insurance Program

The Pima County Regional Flood Control District (District) has submitted a Letter of Map Revision application to the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to re-map the floodplains for the Flowing Wells Wash and Runway Drive area within the City of Tucson, to reflect flood control drainage improvements, more recent topography and improved mapping.  The mapping limits for the Flowing Wells Wash floodplain are from the Union Pacific Railroad embankment to the south side of West Fort Lowell Road at North Shawnee Avenue. The mapping limits for the Runway Drive area extend from the Flowing Wells Wash to Gardner Lane in the north.  The eastern edge of the remapping is east of Romero Road and extends west to the east side of I-10.

The proposed conditions would modify the Flood Insurance Rate Maps, Panel Numbers 04019C1667L, and 04019C1669L.  The proposed changes are shown in the maps linked below. This notification is a requirement of the National Flood Insurance Program.

The remapping is a component of the Ruthrauff Basin Management Study being conducted by the District.

If you have questions or need more information, please contact Terry Hendricks with the District at (520) 724-4600.
