dog walk at PACCPima Animal Care Center invites the public to do a labor of love this Labor Day holiday and walk its shelter dogs to help them stay healthy, happy and hopeful as they wait for new homes. Up to 200 dogwalkers needed for this event, scheduled from 7 – 9 a.m. on Sept. 4 at PACC’s shelter, 4000 N. Silverbell Road.

Members of the public over the age of 15 can participate by registering online at PACC’s volunteer webpage. The registration period will end once PACC has 200 participants or by Friday, Sept. 1. Don’t wait, these volunteer slots fill up quickly.

On the day of the event, PACC staff encourages volunteers to bring water, wear closed-toe shoes, and dress in clothes that they don’t mind getting dirty. Check-in begins at 6:30 a.m. and the dog walk begins by 7 a.m. To expedite the check-in process, staff recommends participants fill out their volunteer waiver ahead of time.

Due to the construction of PACC’s new facility, staff encourages folks to park anywhere they can, including the adjacent Christopher Columbus Park. The walk will conclude by 9 a.m.
