The Loop bridgeOn Jan. 9, the Pima County Department of Transportation, Regional Transportation Authority and their contractor, Falcone Brothers & Associates will begin construction of the Rillito River Path: Bike/Pedestrian Bridge over Camino de la Tierra.

Improvements include a 12-foot wide bridge, built using recycled concrete girders from a previous local bridge replacement project. These will be placed along the route to elevate users above Camino de la Tierra. Connections at-grade to the existing trailhead and to bike lanes on Camino de la Tierra will remain in place for continuity with the bike routes in the neighborhood.

The project is located on the Rillito River Path portion of The Loop, and is located near the connection to the Santa Cruz River Path. This is a highly utilized portion of The Loop that provides benefits to pedestrians, cyclists and equestrians for transportation, recreation, health and other purposes. This project is expected to be completed by fall of 2017.

Please approach the area with caution and obey all traffic control devices. Bicyclists and motorists should seek alternate routes. The construction schedule may change in the event of mechanical failure or inclement weather.
