Roger Road Wastewater Treatment FacilityThe Pima County Regional Wastewater Reclamation Department has contracted with KE&G Construction Inc. to install a new 8-inch sewer line and eliminate the existing pump station located on South Camino de la Tierra, just south of West Valencia Road. Crews have encountered some construction challenges which have delayed this project.

Work is expected to complete by mid-September. Crews will start working on this project on July 25, with traffic restrictions starting by July 24. Work will take place Monday through Friday between 5 a.m. and 3 p.m.

Traffic control will be in place 24 hours per day for the duration of the project. The list below outlines the anticipated travel restrictions.

    • The existing southbound closure of Camino de la Tierra at Valencia Road will be in place through July 24. Northbound travel is available until July 24.
    • Northbound and southbound Camino de la Tierra will close from July 25 to August 12, however, northbound traffic on Camino de la Tierra will be allowed on the weekends.
    • A detour in the vicinity of the Miller Elementary School, 6951 S. Camino de la Tierra, will be in place allowing traffic on Valencia Road to travel south on Cardinal Road, west on Los Reales Road and north on Camino de la Tierra to Valencia Road until August 12.
    • After August 12, motorists will see flaggers and shoulder work on Camino de la Tierra south of Valencia Road.

Motorists will see construction traffic, traffic controls (signage), heavy equipment, construction workers, and construction vehicles during the course of this work.  For the safety of motorists and the construction crew, motorists should slow down and heed all traffic control signage and devices. Construction times are approximate and are subject to change in the event that unforeseen conditions cause delays or postponements.
