    Any permit with approved electronic plans on file with the County is eligible for remote inspection, including:
    • Any permit initialized after 7/1/2014
    • Sites-off-model permits with electronic model plans
    • For Septic inspections, select the "Schedule an inspection" tab on the DEQ page

    • Make sure you have 4G or LTE at the job site
    • Download Skype on your phone: 
    • Hot tips that make it easier for us to connect with you:
      • Sign up with email, or after you have a Skype account:
      • Go to your profile and enter your email and Tucson and AZ for City and State

    If you don't have 4G or LTE we will not be able to complete the remote inspection and you will have to wait for a next day field inspection.

    Remember your Skype sign up information.  You will need it later when you set up your calendaring service account in step 4.

    "Skype for Business" is not supported at this time.

    Prior to scheduling, ensure that the necessary tools based on type of inspection are readily available.  For example, carry a tape measure, level, GFCI tester, step ladder (for close ups of ceiling), etc.

    Step 4: Schedule the Inspection

    Step 4: Schedule the Inspection

    1. Visit our calendaring service.  
    2. Follow the on-screen instructions.  First time users will be prompted to create a profile.  You will need to enter your name and email the same as you did for your Skype account.  If you log in to Skype with a Skype name we need that also (see find your Skype name).
    3. When prompted to enter the permit number and the requested inspection numbers.  These numbers are located on your permit.

    Depending upon available slots Inspections can be scheduled within 30 minutes.  Save time by making sure there are no conditions holding up your inspection and that all fees are paid.

    Make sure the County logo is at the top of the calendaring web page.

    Step 5: Prepare to receive the Skype Call

    Step 5: Prepare to receive the Skype Call

    1. Make sure the phone is fully charged.
    2. Respond to any Skype contact request received from Pima County Staff.
    3. Be ready to accept video call at scheduled time.
    4. Have the required tools (See Step 3)
    5. Turn off phone notifications that may interrupt the Skype call.
    6. Use ear buds with microphone to improve communication.
    7. Make sure power tools and equipment are not running so that the call audio is clear.
    8. Reverse the camera

    If you haven't heard from us within ten minutes of your scheduled time call 724-6490 and ask to speak with the remote inspector

    Step 6: Start the inspection

    1. Begin inspection at street view looking at structure.
    2. The address must show in the initial view
    3. Follow the directions of the inspector
    4. Walk inspection in clockwise direction horizontally.
    5. Walk inspection from bottom to top vertically (if multiple floors).
    6. Make note of any correction items.

    The inspector will tell you if the inspection passed.  Congratulations!

    1. The inspector will update our permitting system after the Skype call is completed.  These comments will be available on our web site.
    2. The inspector will assess an additional fee for re-inspections, if applicable
    3. If applicable, pay fee on-line prior to scheduling re-inspection.  Use the search box in the upper right corner of the screen. 
    4. Scheduling of same day reinspections is based on availability of time slots in the calendaring service.  Your inspector may provide the option for you to send a correction video or photos to remote.inspection@pima.gov
