Youth Career Expo set for May 4

Youth Career Expo 2015Youth age 16-24 are invited to a “Career Pathways and Employment Fair” Wednesday, May 4, 3-6 p.m. at Tucson International Airport, 7250 S. Tucson Blvd. 

The fair will feature employers and educators representing the fields of aerospace and defense, logistics, health, bioscience, emerging technologies, infrastructure and natural and renewable resources. 

The event also will feature general career information and opportunities for job shadowing, internships and employment. 
Students will be able to choose from three two-hour sessions beginning at 3 p.m., 3:30 p.m. and 4 p.m. Students must bring six copies of their resume and come dressed prepared for a potential interview, introduce themselves to an employer, and talk about career goals.

Registration deadline is Friday, April 29. RSVP to registration@tucsonyouth.org. 

“This is our sixth Career Expo where we have offered youth the chance to explore many career options that otherwise were unknown to them,” said Vaughn Croft, who represents the Office of the Pima County School Superintendent and chairs the Youth Council of the county’s Workforce Investment Board, one of the sponsors of the career expo. “The message we want to share with students is that it’s never too early to start thinking about your future.”

The event is sponsored by the Pima County Workforce Investment Board, Arizona@Work/Pima County (formerly the One-Stop Career Center), the Office of the County School Superintendent, the Tucson Airport Authority and Tucson Youth Development.
