    Mission

    To enhance the economic welfare of the Pima County citizens and businesses by collaborating on tourism related community efforts.

    Program Goals and Objectives

    • Create an awareness of Pima County and tourism related activities through marketing to increase business and leisure travel to enhance the communities quality of life.
    • Assist with the marketing and promotion of County properties and leased-property attractions.
    • Develop and implement, in partnership with Visit Tucson and other community organizations, a comprehensive marketing plan that includes promotion of area attractions, destination special events, and film and video production.  
    • Increase cultural and heritage awareness of Pima County.
    • Develop optional use concepts for County land for Pima County Fairgrounds, Leased Property Attractions and environmental friendly businesses.
    • Develop a partnership approach to County Involvement in all public and private organizations involved in tourism development.
    • Assist with the promotion of special events and revenue producing activities at Kino Sports Complex.
    • Encourage the promotion of Pima County as an ecotourism destination, highlighting natural resource parks and open spaces.

    Funding Sources

    The department and its programs are funded by both public and private funds in partnership with its community outside agencies, the city of Tucson, Southern Arizona Attractions Alliance, Arizona Office of Tourism, Arizona Department of Commerce and Visit Tucson.

    The Attractions and Tourism Department is part of Pima County’s Community and Economic Development.

    The department of Attractions and Tourism act as primary liaison with the business, academic and tourism community to enhance the economic well being of the region. It provides business development, marketing, training and revenue enhancement programs to Pima County’s leased asset partners (i.e. Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum, Old Tucson Studios, Colossal Cave Mountain Park, Pima Air and Space Museum, Pima County Fairgrounds, and more.
