The 2006 bond question called for the construction of a psychiatric urgent care center to complement the existing and proposed psychiatric services at the then-called University Physicians Hospital at Kino Campus.

The new building completed and occupied in August 2011, now called the Crisis Response Center (CRC), consists of a 64,100 square foot, two-story building constructed just south of the new Behavioral Health Pavilion.

The ground floor contains a public entrance which leads to an adult assessment and stabilization unit to the west and a youth assessment and stabilization unit to the east. Each unit consists of waiting areas, triage areas, interview rooms, resting areas, nurse-team stations and staff support areas. An exterior courtyard, conference rooms, restrooms and building support areas separate the two care units. A law enforcement entrance exists on the north side of the building, off the exterior gated Sally Port which leads to both care units.
The second floor consists of a 15-bed Level 1 Sub-acute inpatient unit to the west. This unit is equipped with indoor and outdoor activity areas, seclusion rooms, group therapy rooms, nurse stations and staff support areas.

East of the central courtyard are a crisis call center, and administrative offices. A conference room, staff lounge, public restrooms, and building support functions exist between the Level 1 Sub-acute unit and call center.

The CRC is connected to the new Behavioral Health Pavilion to the north by a secure-covered link and the Sally Port for law enforcement vehicles.
